Retro video game collecting has gotten popular and expensive in recent years. Is it too late to start collecting and retro game hunting? Today we discuss if you should start collecting video games in 2021.

Retro Game Hunting

Retro game hunting has gotten increasingly difficult as retro game prices have gotten increasingly expensive. Game for consoles we would expect be cheap, such as PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii, have seen huge increases over the past year. This makes it hard to collect for these consoles.

Expensive And Rare Games

This jump in price and desirability is not just limited to traditionally cheap video games. The same can be seen for more traditionally expensive and sought after games. With games for the PlayStation Vita seeing massive increases.

Modern Gaming

Worst of all though, is that even modern and recently released video game prices are acting more like retro game prices. Historically the price of a new video game release would decrease over time from it’s release date. With the game reaching very cheap levels couple of years after release. However now we are seeing video games, especially on the Nintendo Switch break this tradition. With prices increasing by 100% – 300%! This is crazy and makes collecting video games incredibly difficult. Which begs the question… Should you start video game collecting in 2021?
